Today Mason had his basketball turnament in this little back-woods town called Hector. Most people have never heard of this town, but there are some pretty good memories that I had packed far far away in the very back of my mind from this little town. My Uncle Jim and Aunt Bea lived there when I was a tween and a little younger, but I mainly remember my tween years there. My Aunt Bea was Carrie's Mema, so that's how we're related.(fyi)We used to go stay with them for several days at a time. Just me, Carrie, Lauren, and Garrett. Brian went sometimes, but his work then was alot of traveling, so it was always just us four. We always went everywhere together. Some of the best times were road trips to the lake or anywhere (like Mema & Jim's) and always in the "retta"!!hahaha If we got lucky and Brian let us have the car, which was a Barretta(sp). Anyway back to my story...this little town...when you come into Hector you can turn left to go towards the town of Dover, this is the way to their house. On the right corner used to be this little county church, and one Easter we all got dressed-up and went to the Easter service there. Going by there today was like a dream. The church is still there, but it's not little any more..they remodeled and added on or maybe even built a whole new church- not sure. I remember Lauren having the Easter hat and gloves, she always let us dress her sooo cute. I'm pretty sure Jackie was with us this day too. Back when she knew us. This is another cousin (fyi). I remember one time just Jackie and I stayed with Mema and Jim & it was like 30 below outside, nothing to do, bored to death, so we went to wash her car (of course in shorts and sweatshirts). We had a good time. Today when we went by the old carwash it was still there but they had the drive blocked so you couldn't get to it. It was sooo old!! I felt sooo old!! I wonder if she remembers that night? Does she remember that we were family?! OMG that was like 15+ years ago?!?! Kyle took me to find the house and we did find it. I told the boys about how the living room was so big that we could run and do cartwheels(sp). And how we would make one huge bed in there and all sleep on it. I told them about the pool table too. They thought it all was really neat=) The house pretty much looked the same except there was a car-port and no junkie old cars! It was for sale though. It would be neat to see it on the inside one last time. But I guess then our memory of it wouldn't be the same. I told Kyle about how we(carrie & me)came back to the house to clean after Jim died and his body imprint was still in their bed(i'll never forget that)and how Aunt Bea wanted us to scatter his ashes(and we did). I remember thinking that day if I would ever come back to this house. What a sad story. But we do have some good memories don't we!? I love you, Garrett, Lauren, & Carrie!!
Always together =)
